With a more enhanced S Pen interface and features, complementing the increased the display size at about 5.7 inches with full 1080p HD Super AMOLED display and faster LTE technology
The Galaxy Note 3 is slimmer, faster and lighter than the Note II. It has a 2.3 GHZ quad-core process coupled with 3GB RAM which helps run the Android 4.3 out of the box.
They have also improved the camera to a 13-megapixel camera up from he 8MP found on the Note II. It also sports a whopping 3200 mAh battery life – and for such a powerful device that is a perfect combination.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will hope to rekindle the love that note takers, creative users and users who thirst for a smartphone that truly caters for productivity and multitasking on the go when it arrives in more than 140 countries from September 25, alongside the Galaxy Gear.
Some of the design elements were inspired by the Samsung Galaxy S4 – evident in the frame and some of the UI, such as the Camera interface which now follows in the Samsung’s design language.
What’s also new in the design department is the back cover. The old polycarbonate back cover has now been replaced with a soft textured-touch back cover and delicate stitching – giving it a more classier and premium feel.
There are also various accessories available. Some built for better integration with the S Pen, such as the S View cover, available in a variety of colours to suit various tastes.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3′s primary camera is not just a 13 megapixel camera, you can shoot at 60FPS. And if you really need to get creative, you can also shoot 4K high-resolution videos.
The pictures taken comes out very vibrant and colourful, they show true colours also which is down to the full HD display. The secondary camera comes in just under 2Mp (1.9 Megapixel), which is also capable of recording HD videos so in the multimedia department, the Note 3 is not lacking at all.
Apps & Intelligent Sensors
The Galaxy Note 3 comes with S Health as seen on the Galaxy S4, it uses the integrated sensors such as an accelerometer, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity, barometer, temperature, humidity and with those sensors you can easily monitor how well you look after yourself day in day out.
S Pen – Dot, Circle, Box
The biggest highlight besides the powerful Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs, is the new S Pen; S Pen has been improved with a new interface called Air Command which is activated by pointing the pen at the screen, a little dot appears then clicking the S Pen button brings up the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 features available such as:
• Action memo – Adds actions to your memo e.g. ad an action to a mobile number to link to your contacts
• Scrapbooker – Collects content from any screen to add to your scrapbook for viewing later or note taking
• Screen write – Take a screenshot and write notes on it
• S Finder – Searches your Note 3 or website which can also search into notes written by hand, rather than only those that are typed up
• Pen Window – It allows you to draw a shape on any screen and open a number of apps available e.g.open a calculator app while working on a document
S Note has a new intuitive interface; you can move layers easily, view notes daily, edit freely and view from anywhere. What’s more is that Evernote’s integration gets you access to the premium version for 12 months.
Samsung also unveiled My Magazine, Samsung My Magazine is designed to pull in your favourite news sources and social networking shares, and puts them into a magazine style flip-board so you can slide through them and select whichever one you are interested in to get into more detail.
Group Play has also been improved, previously on the Galaxy S4 you can only share sound amongst other things, but now you can turn up to five devices into a single, huge screen so if you have that family video you would like to see on a bigger display, you can just Group Play to do just that at once.
INTRODUCING GALAXY GEAR
The Samsung Galaxy Gear is a smart watch consumers will actually want. The “must have” companion for the Samsung Note 3, it features a 1.63-inch, 320 x 320 Super AMOLED touch display and a 1.9 megapixel autofocus camera, capable of recording HD videos and macro mode.
The best feature on the Samsung Galaxy Gear uses the twin microphones with noise cancellation, and a speaker built into the adjustable clasp – so that users can simply place their palm to the ears like they are answering their phone.
The Gear also comes with a number of Samsung Galaxy Gear apps to compliment the app store menu on the watch so that users can user certain apps that are compatible such as Viber, the VOIP app for making calls over 3G or WiFi.
The Galaxy Gear uses Bluetooth 4.0 + BLE to always stay connected to the Galaxy Note 3 without drastically draining its battery so that you will never miss any notifications coming in to your Note 3.
The Galaxy watch can be classed as a premium smart gear with stainless steel frames and solid built yet light weighing in at 73.8g; it is only 11.1mm thick, the touchscreen is made from sapphire glass built to withstand any accidental knocks. It feels good and sits well on the wrist – like it was custom made.
Samsung will offer the Galaxy smart watch in six colours – Jet Black, Mocha Grey, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green.
Some of the Samsung galaxy gear specs/specification includes a 800MHz Exynos processor coupled with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and 315mAh battery. Included is a microUSB charging cradle, and a number of sensors such as a Gyrocrope, Accelerometer, Pedemoter to help keep track of your day to day walking distance and the battery is built to last for over 25 hours.
With Smart Relay you can get an email notification on your gear and when you get your Note 3 out of your pocket, the message is expanded automatically so you can read the complete message and reply if you need to.
It will go on sale in the UK from September 25 for £199 alongside the Galaxy Note 3 since they compliment each other’s functions.
It will be available in over 140 countries when available and will eventually become compatible with other Galaxy devices. With the price point, premium feel, great design and functions, the Galaxy Gear will be a hit.
