Labrinth Doesn’t Rate the MOBO’s

0

Despite being confirmed as one of the performers at this years MOBO Awards, Labrinth has insisted that the ceremony has become watered down by far too many pop acts…

The singer/songwriter singed to Simon Cowell’s label has demanded that the MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards change their name to represent what it really is, an award ceremony which celebrates music from some pretty mainstream origins:

“I think it is a bit weird because Ed Sheeran doesn’t make black music, and neither does Conor Maynard – he makes commercial pop,”

“Even I’m not making black music. It’s commercial music, but at least it is more related to hip hop so it makes more sense.

“I don’t think it should be called the Music Of Black Origin anymore. It should be Music Of Urban Origin, or just Music Awards.”

This year’s ceremony is set to take place November 3 in Liverpool, with Emeli Sandé and Plan B leading the nominations. Do you think the MOBO Awards have lost their way?
