As usual this Monday we run down the highlights from last weeks schedule of free music releases, which as always provided us with a great listening experience including brand new projects from the likes of Danny Brown, Lunar C, Curt@!n$, STS and more…
Danny Brown presents: Bruiser Brigade
In his second free release via Scion AV (the first having been his recent ‘Grown Up’ single) Danny Brown brings along the rest of his Bruiser Brigade clique, fellow rapper Dopehead and producer Skywlkr to unleash a new four track EP, featuring two original new cuts and two remixes courtesy of Canadian beatsmith Ryan Hemsworth and Scottish Mad Decent representative Lockah who both provide very unique takes on the original cuts. Our only complaint about the four outstanding tracks is that they’re currently only available as censored versions which unfortunately lessens the impact (since anyone who’s listened to Danny before will know censorship would significantly reduce the word count in one of his tracks) Nonetheless well worth a download.
Lunar C – Sewer Side Sex
SB.TV favourite West Yorkshire’s Lunar C let loose of a new project via Sinoptic Music comprising 12 tracks, mostly originals with a couple of classic freestyles thrown in for good measure. The project features original production from the likes of M-Phazes, Wizard, ApaTight and Pete Cannon and guest verses from JME, Dot Rotten, Chief Wigz, Minas, Jack Flash, WYdeboi and ExP. Make sure you don’t miss out n this free offering from one of the UK’s most exciting rappers, and hit that download button now.
Curt@!n$ – 23
Last night saw the return of Brooklyn rapper Dope Boy C, who after having a quiet past few months, dropped a new 6 track EP which keeps guest contributions down to a minimum with only SchoolBoy Q showing up to spit a verse, and production comes courtesy of Rico Beats and Don Cannon. Very much like his aesthetic style, which has had him referred to as a “fashion genius” by none other than Kanye West, this one definitely has a focus on quality.
STS – GoldRush II
Following up to the first volume, Atlanta rapper STS continues to flip chart music samples to create underground hip-hop tracks for him to devour, this time targeting the likes of Ed Sheeran, Emelie Sande, Maroon 5 and Sleigh Bells amongst others…
Last week also saw new releases from upcoming beatmaker Thelonius Martin and Doomtree producer Paper Tiger, who each let go of new instrumental projects, allowing aspiring rappers to give them a spin; bearded rhyme-slinger Sean Falyon re-released the latest instalment of his SFBE (‘Sean Falyon Be Everywhere’) as a free download; following on from their work with Rick Ross’ God Forgives, I Don’t, Gianni Lee and Mike Blud teamed up once again to shine a light on the samples behind G.O.O.D Music’s Cruel Summer album and Duct Tape Ent’s Alley Boy dropped his latest mixtape The Gift Of Discernment.
