Jay-Z is being sued for $7million by a New York City clothing designer because of the Roc-A-Fella logo, which the designer claims he designed…
Dwayne Walker claims that he designed the logo during the early stages of the company back in 1995, and is seeking $7 million in unpaid royalties for it.
The label was founded in 1996 with Damon Dash and Kareem Burke and now generates millions of dollars a year. Roc-a-fella is now owned by Universal Music Group and distributed by the Island Def Jam Motown music group.
Dwayne Walker said in a lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court on Thursday, that he created the Roc-A-Fella design and was paid $3,500 in 1995 for creating it.
Jay-Z is yet to comment on the suit.
