Dappy’s Tarzan 2 video caused controversy when he took shots at Simon Cowell, Alexandra Burke and many others in the music industry. But a shout out which read ‘Free Leo Chindamo’, a man convicted of killing head teacher Philip Lawrence, sparked fury and caused the video to be removed from YouTube…
Chindamo was jailed for life in 1996 after he was found guilty of stabbing Lawrence outside his school. Dappy has since issued an apology saying:
I knew his brother from when I was young. In no way did I intend to cause upset and certainly didn’t know about his past… My heart goes out to Mr Lawrence’s family. I know too well the pain of losing a loved one.
An edited version of the clip without reference to Chindamo has now been uploaded to SB.TV’s YouTube. Dappy also announced that he will be donating the money from the clip to crime reduction charity Nacro.
