The headline acts and special guests from Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend have been well documented, but the sterling performances from some of the Alternative Corner’s favourite acts were really looked over. Whether you went down to Hackney Marshes last weekend or not be sure to catch up on some of our favourite performances from the weekend…
SB.TV favourites from Ed Sheeran to Wretch 32 played across the weekend and the 1Xtra Stage was full of the best rap, hip-hop, grime and dance. But the Alternative Corner was particularly interested in the the In New Music We Trust Stage’s stellar line up. Here are some of our favourite snippets from this stage over the weekend:
Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again.Click for the player
Not only is Michael one of the nicest men in the industry but he’s also a flawless performer. This performance of Home Again, taken from his debut album of the same name, sounds like a studio edit rather than a live performance.
The Vaccines – If You Wanna.Click for the player
Last summer’s indie anthem has really cemented it’s place on party playlists across the country and was always going to be the highlight of The Vaccines set.
The Maccabees – Pelican.Click for the player
The Maccabees are probably one of the most underrated bands in the country, they already have three superb albums under their belt and the infectious Pelican taken from January’s Given To The Wild was a real crowd pleaser.
Jack White – Seven Nation Army.
If you saw Jay-Z‘s set you’ll know it was delayed. The reason why? He was too busy watching Jack White. If he’s is good enough for Jay-Z, he’s good enough for us. Watch his nostalgic rendition of Seven Nation Army.
If there is anyone you’d like featured on the Alternative Corner let us know in the comments box or Twitter @sbtvonline.
