Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, one of the most in demand and visually exciting DJ’s at the moment, he’s regularly spotted in a dinosaur costume and you probably would have heard his catchy track, Garden, on the latest Nokia advert. With official remixes for Lady Gaga under his belt, the 25-year-old Oxford born DJ is planning to drop his debut album early next year, alongside his first UK headline tour. Natalia Jorquera catches up with Orlando, the man underneath the headdress…

You’ve recently moved from Greco-Roman to Polydor, why the move?

Very simply, Polydor is a bigger label that can do more for my music, Greo-Roman is an amazing label, but I need certain things that a bigger label can offer me, so that I can tour, write an album and promote it as best I can.

Lady Gaga – Marry The Night (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) by T-E-E-D

Your latest remix of Lady Gaga‘s Marry The Night has notched up quite a few hits hasn’t it? How do you choose a song to remix? Or do people approach you now?

People come to me, it has taken me a long time to get to that point, I’m in a lucky position in the fact that I’m a producer and a performer in my own right, so now one of my singles makes someone come to me for a remix. I get asked to do a lot more than I can actually fit in, which is a shame because I really enjoy remixing. The Lady Gaga one was crazy, cause it’s obviously Lady Gaga, I was really busy at the time it came through, I started it one afternoon and then had to finish it in a basement in Vancouver, so it wasn’t ideal for me – in terms of where I was doing it and how I had to finish it, but I’m so happy with the response.

You’re giving away your latest offering Dream On for free, how come? Is this a present for your fans?

It was a record that I wasn’t sure if it was going to go on the album and I’ve always wanted to just give something out, I think it is a nice thing to do, often with this industry you have to spend a lot of time promoting a tune and you have to build it up and choose your release date, but with this, I didn’t tell anyone I was going to do this and it was just throw it out and give it to people. It is nice to just do that, just give something away and say thank you for people being supportive, it was a really enjoyable thing to do.

Next Monday you’re taking part in a one-off gig and a global first alongside Deadmau5 at the Nokia Lumia event. You’ll be playing in front of London’s Millbank Tower to a backdrop of spectacular 4D projections on the full length of the 120 metre building, it sounds crazy, what does it feel to be involved in such a unique project?

I’m very excited to be involved, the idea that people can watch the show from the other side of the river is pretty cool. The 4D projection and mapping of the Millbank tower is really exciting. I think it is going to be hard for me to concentrate on doing the show because I’m going to be turning around looking at his tower for the whole thing.

The free Nokia Lumia event takes place on the 28th November, you’ll be able to view the half hour performance from the North and South sides of the River Thames, or stream it live via facebook: http://www.Facebook.com/Nokia.uk
