0

The prestigious MOBO Awards were held last night in Glasgow, here’s what went down…

Jessie J reigned supreme on the night, coming away from the ceremony with an admirable four awards including; Best UK Act, Best Newcomer, Best Song AND Best album. Not bad, eh?

Other notable winners included Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, Dappy and of course, Adele.

RnB royalty, Boyz II Men, were also awarded with the coveted, ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to reward their longevity in the music industry over the past two decades.

During the course of the evening, the event paid tribute to the late Amy Winehouse; the tribute was led by the singer’s goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield.

Some controversy was aroused when Wretch 32 and other odds-on favourites failed to pick up an award; Twitter was awash with tweets from celebrities and onlookers watching the event, expressing their disappointment in the selection of some of the winners. Wretch simply posted “Speechless” after the show via his Twitter account.

Other MOBO 2011 highlights include a spectacular performance from Emeli Sandé and Professor Green, the two met on stage to perform their upcoming single, Read All About It (see here), as well as Emeli performing a rendition of her hit single, Heaven.
