Time Out, have assembled a list of 100 songs to influence history significantly worldwide and Lethal Bizzle‘s legendary grime tune Pow! (Forward) has made it firmly into the top 10…
Inspired by how music and it’s musicians have changed history as we know it today, Time Out collected together historians and enthusiasts alike to collate this list which demonstrates an incredibly powerful message, the power of music in the history of the world. Pow! (Forward) was put in the list at number 9, as a track which introduced grime to the masses with it’s major club play and subsequently, it’s mass ban from nightclubs across the country due to the mosh-pits and violence that occured frequently during it’s play. The introduction of grime to the mainstream through Lethal Bizzle’s hit song, saw it receive a lot of negative media coverage as a ‘violent’ genre, but amazingly spurred it on to be the strong genre that it still stands as today.
Other landmark tunes listed by Time Out are Know We by garage pioneers Pay As You Go Cartel in at number 96 after being cited as what merged garage into grime and Fight The Power from Public Enemy in at number 1 for helping to spark a major change for African Americans in the 90′s fighting for equality.
