SB.TV and Devlin are teaming up with ChildLine to launch Final Verse…
Final Verse is a charity project offering SB.TV viewers the chance to record the final verse to Teardrops, an uncompleted track written and recorded by Devlin. The winner of this ChildLine competition will record their original lyrics in a studio and meet Devlin. The as-yet unheard track will also include a music video featuring both Devlin and the competition winner.

Once your entry to the competition has been approved, entrants are able to view their verse on a dedicated YouTube channel. Share the link with friends and family, allowing them to see your personalised copy of the Teardrops music video, complete with a performance uploaded by you. The top 20 entrants will be determined through YouTube views and ‘likes’.
Once the top 20 entries have been selected, the winner will be decided by a panel of industry expects including Devlin; Jamal Edwards aka SB, founder of SBTV; and Ben Scarr, A&R guy for Island Records who signed both Tinchy Stryder and Devlin.
Endorsed by a host of urban talent including Wiz Khalifa, Ed Sheeran and Chipmunk, the competition provides the unique opportunity to appear with an established and highly respected artist in the UK scene. Teardrops will feature on SB.TV, allowing the winner to appear on a channel alongside some of their favourite artists from the world of music, including Nicki Minaj, N-Dubz and Bruno Mars.
Knowing that writing and creating act as an emotional release, ChildLine are approaching young people through music as a way to help them to discuss their problems. Back in 2009, the counseling service sponsored two seasons of Dubplate Drama and it’s accompanying competition, Spit It Out.
Ian MacArthur, Chief Marketing Officer of NSPCC said, “Final Verse builds on the relationship that ChildLine established in its sponsorship of the Dubplate Drama series. Its important that all young people feel able to express themselves and share their worries no matter how big or small and music is a brilliant route to channel that through. Having Devlin as our ambassador on the project allows us to demonstrate how relevant and pure that expression can be and hopefully show that ChildLine and Final Verse are for everyone who wants a chance to speak out.”
Demonstrating their awareness of the importance of music towards young people, ChildLine are using Final Verse to let young people know that ChildLine cares about what matters to them and talking about your problems is the first step towards solving them.
