Eminem is expected to be the star performer at this year’s Brit Awards, but only if he wins a statue.

After years of dead performances, the award show organisers are looking to return to their controversial glory years in the 1990s. They blame a lack of legendary figures for the slackness of the Brits in recent years. So the entire show will be given a shake up. Artists will be voting for the winners, rather than industry insiders, in order to give more honest results.

It’s been ten years since the Recovery rapper has attended the event, which will be held for the first time at London’s O2 Arena. A source said, “He didn’t want to just perform at the ceremony so he’s been assured that he will win something. What that is, organisers haven’t worked out yet. But he will receive some silverware.” They added, “Eminem is without doubt the biggest star the music industry has produced in the last 15 years. To have him on board is great.” The Lifetime Achievement award has been dropped, which some thought would be given to the 38 year old rapper.

It’s unclear which award he will win, but Em has scooped 4 out of out the 5 Brits he’s been nominated for. Last year, he missed out on International Male, but following the success of recent singles including Not Afraid and Love The Way You Lie featuring Rihanna, it’s likely he will take home at least one award.

So what’s he got in store for us at the Brits? The Detroit MC is famous for his award show stunts; remember the time he came out with a hundred lookalikes to perform The Real Slim Shady at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards? More recently he caused a scene at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards when Sasha Baron Cohen’s Bruno character got a little too close for comfort.
